The Purpose of this site, and Credit for the work.
This site is designed to “rock the boat” somewhat in the fee-charging prop world, and we make no apologies for that.
The current model gaining traction in the prop trading industry of charging trainee’s for training is in our opinion, faulty and unfair as it enables prop firms to profit from the massive over-supply of those who are desperate to gain an opportunity in the industry.
The purpose of this site is to make the same sort of information available for free, that would be provided as part of a prop firm training programme – typically carrying a fee of several thousand pounds or dollars.
Whilst there might be a *very* small minority of companies out there who may provide good value for money mentoring, for someone who has the necessary drive to succeed in the ultra-competitive financial markets this site should give you everything you need to get started without running the gauntlet of trying to find a reliable firm and parting with any your money; it will give you a framework for structuring your day and a solid grounding in everything you would need to know in order to succeed in trading.
The rest is up to you. If you cannot succeed as a trader under your own steam given a push in the right direction, there is no reason you should believe a “mentor” at a prop firm will be able to spoon feed you success, even if they take a hefty fee from you for doing so and supposedly let you trade with “company funds” (read: your training fee).
This site has been put together based in part on the experience of someone with many years in the industry who didnt like what he saw of the chargeable training model. The idea of distributing prop training content for free was first spawned in 2008 as a new raft of trading firms started charging, but was spurred to completion after reading a public thread created by trader_dante on the T2W forum. A good portion of the content of the training menu on this site was inspired by or based around his post.
Content has been added to and expanded on, but full credit to trader_dante for an excellent idea and some wonderful research. We should add however, that trader_dante is in no way responsible for, or in any way related to (nor possibly even aware of), the running of this site.
The “get a job” section on this site also leans on various comments about jobhunting made by trader_dante and others on the subject. The directory of firms and other information is collated from information in the public domain elsewhere on the internet.
