Part 2. Before you start: PREPARATORY READING
Now as you are almost certainly going to be trading futures, you need to buy and read
How the Futures Markets Work by J Bernstein, which is available from Amazon used & new.
If you have a mathematical brain and enjoy a challenge buy and read The Futures Game: Who Wins, Who Loses, & Why by Teweles and Jones.
Start both of these in the two week period before your course begins. Try and read for two or three hours per day. Ideally before you sleep as you tend to absorb information better.

Why am I “almost certainly going to be trading futures?” I’ve traded forex, the FTSE and shares previously and it’s been with shares that I’ve been profitable. Should I find my own books to read rather than those on this course?
As described in the introduction, the course is based on the training agenda used by London based proprietary trading firms. These prop firms almost exclusively trade futures, so that is what the training centres on. You can trade whatever you like, the principles of price action, supply & demand, support & resistance apply to all markets. The only parts that do not apply would be related to order flow if you were looking at FX since this market information is not available.
Hi,
Just ordered Winning In the Futures Market by George Angell – as it was recommended to me as best beginning overview on futures. Should I be ordering Bernstein’s book as well? [Have Market Wizards, Reminiscences of SO, Hot Commodities - Jim Rogers (I want to trade commodities), Way of the Turtle, Trend Following - Covel, & Come Into My Trading Room - Elder.] Very grateful for this site. Thank you. B
Love this website. Was worried it was gone there for a couple of weeks. Happy to see it up and running again. I tried the prop firm route. Didn’t work out for me. This is a comprehensive list of everything that I did during my training period. Well done on putting it together – its a fantastic reference point. All the Best!!
